Belton, MO RETAIL MEMORIES! (On Hiatus) on Flickr: Posted a Photo
Don't re-fave, if you faved "Mission KS" store. These are 3 repeat pics from store #2121, on Johnson Drive, in Mission KS, which is the same vintage as the Belton store. Same features: Opened about 1984, stucco, bell tower with real opening, (now sealed) etc.
I need to document the Taco Bell which was in Belton, MO, (south suburbs) but it is now concealed within a Sheridan's Frozen Custard store!
The Belton store looked just like these pics, MINUS the side dining room. (see front view) At least I feel pretty sure Sheridan's just modified the old Taco Bell. They could have knocked it down, and built fresh, but if so, the cooler/freezer is in exactly the same spot. I would be grateful for any comments to clarify this.
At first I thought it had been torn down, but the links below will suggest that it's still there, including this outdoor cooler/freezer, shown in these pics. The Taco Bell faced north, with it's drive thru on the east. The Sheridan's used the east facing side of Taco Bell as its front. Sheridan's drive-thru, facing west, is NOT the original Taco Bell drive-thru, which was on the east.
Here is the Bing.com view. Be sure to try both "Aerial" and "Bird's Eye" views. www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCC&cp... RETAIL MEMORIES! (On Hiatus) on Flickr: Posted a Photo

This Taco Bell is certainly still occupied by its original inhabitants, so doesn't really belong in Retail Memories, but it's where I made my last taco, in Oct 1999.
After many happy years with the company, I was getting a little too old and made a career change, working my last shift in this brand-new (then) store, 10-17-1999. RETAIL MEMORIES! (On Hiatus) on Flickr: Posted a Photo
Belton MO, southeast suburbs. Unsure what this one is. RETAIL MEMORIES! (On Hiatus) on Flickr: Posted a Photo
Old A&P store. Belton Missouri, south suburban Kansas City.
This location, like Liberty, Missouri, has the actual peaked roof and the colonial whatcha-call-it, AND a wrought iron railing. You don't see many with the railing, even if they do have the colonial weather vane.
What struck me is how the entire shopping center, or strip mall, matches the A&P style. If memory serves, the "Anchor Store" on the other (west) end looks a lot like the A&P, which would seem to violate copyright/brand laws. RETAIL MEMORIES! (On Hiatus) on Flickr: Posted a Photo
Belton, MO, mid sixties
This would definitely be a mid-sixties store, with flat, sloped roof. The mansard roof would have been added later. park ranger on Flickr: Posted a Photo
